Kremlin says 'it seems the end of the world is upon us' because we have never lived through something worse

By WILL STEWART and PERKIN AMALARAJ, FOREIGN NEWS REPORTER

Published: 03:41 EDT, 9 March 2026 | Updated: 13:28 EDT, 9 March 2026

Putin's spokesman has addressed the growing fear that 'the end of the world is upon us' with most people having never lived through a worse time.

Dmitry Peskov also hit out at a breakdown in 'international law' as massive US and Israeli strikes on Iran continued in an onslaught the Kremlin has labelled a 'perfect storm.'

Russia appears helpless to assist Tehran except possibly in providing intelligence on American and Israeli military positions.

Putin's mouthpiece said today: 'There have been worse things in human history… but we weren't alive then, so it seems to us that the end of the world is upon us.'

Amid the war in the Middle East, Putin, who illegally invaded Ukraine four years ago, believes 'we have all lost what we call international law', said Peskov.

'To be honest, I don't even understand how anyone can call on others to follow the norms and principles of international law. It no longer exists.'

'It is unlikely that anyone can now formulate what law has replaced international law….No one can provide a clear definition,' said the Russian dictator's spokesperson.

'Therefore, Putin is correct. Against the backdrop of this perfect storm that has now begun, we need to focus on ourselves, our interests, and our potential.

'Where it is lacking, we need to build it up, think carefully, and remain focused.'

Today, Putin pledged 'unwavering support' to Iran's new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, appointed after his father and predecessor was killed in US-Israeli strikes.

'I would like to reaffirm our unwavering support for Tehran and solidarity with our Iranian friends,' Putin said in a message to Khamenei, adding that 'Russia has been and will remain a reliable partner' to Iran.

'At a time when Iran is confronting armed aggression, your tenure in this high position will undoubtedly require great courage and dedication,' the Russian leader said.

It comes as the war in the Middle East caused an enormous spike in the price of oil, as the cost of a barrel rocketed to above $100 for the first time in years.

An emergency meeting of the G7 has been called for today, where firefighting options including the release of oil reserves - held back for crises such as this - will be discussed.

The main issue is the near-total closure of the Straight of Hormuz, through which around a fifth of the world's oil travels, which means major uncertainty hangs over short-term supply.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard has threatened to 'set ablaze' any Western tanker that attempts to navigate the strait, and hundreds of ships laden with oil, as well as liquefied natural gas, have amassed either end of it.

For the first time since war broke out, the effect of this disruption was felt reflected acutely in the markets, when the price of a barrel of Brent crude shot up almost 24 percent.

It took just a minute for the price to rise by 10 percent, and 15 minutes for another 10 percent, seeing it surge beyond the $100 mark for the first time since the early days of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Petrol prices at the pump are also likely to spike as the higher cost filters through to consumers.

UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves will attend an emergency meeting of G7 finance ministers at 1:30pm GMT, chaired by France, to address the economic fallout of the war.

The ripples from war in the Middle East are already being felt in Europe, with rising energy prices and NATO allies targeted, EU chief Ursula von der Leyen said today.

'We are now seeing a regional conflict with unintended consequences. And the spillover is already a reality today,' the European Commission president told EU ambassadors, ahead of a midday call with Middle Eastern leaders.

'Our citizens are caught in the crossfire. Our partners are being attacked,' she said, citing an Iranian-made drone hitting a British base on EU-member Cyprus, trade disruptions and the 'displacement of people'.

While Iran has not officially shut off the Strait of Hormuz - through which a fifth of the world's crude supplies and a substantial amount of gas run - shipping through the critical waterway has all but dried up.

European gas prices also jumped as much as 30 percent Monday, albeit remaining well below the peaks reached in the aftermath of Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Von der Leyen stressed that 'there should be no tears shed for the Iranian regime'.

'The people of Iran deserve freedom, dignity, and the right to decide their own future - even if we know this will be fraught with danger and instability during and after the war'.

The 'longer-term impact' of the war posed 'existential questions' on the future of an international rules-based system and the 27-nation's bloc place in the world, she told the annual gathering of European Union diplomats in Brussels.

'The idea that we can simply retrench and withdraw from this chaotic world is simply a fallacy,' she said.

Von der Leyen also addressed the Ukraine conflict and assured the gathering that Brussels will see through a vital 90 billion euro ($104 billion) loan to Kyiv that is being blocked by Hungary.

'We will deliver on our commitments, because our credibility - and more importantly, our security - is at stake,' she said.

IRGC: We will decide when war ends, Trump warns of death, fire, and fury

Iran’s IRGC warns it will “determine the end of the war" and threatens to halt regional oil exports if US and Israeli attacks continue. Trump: If Iran does anything, we will hit them 20 times harder.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) responded on Monday night to US President Donald Trump, after he predicted that the war against Iran could be over soon.

In a statement quoted by Reuters, the IRGC said they would "determine the end of the war", adding that Iran would not allow "one liter of oil" to be exported from the region if US and Israeli attacks continue.

Responding to the threats in a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, “If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far."

He added, “Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again - Death, Fire, and Fury will reign upon them - But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen! This is a gift from the United States of America to China, and all of those Nations that heavily use the Hormuz Strait. Hopefully, it is a gesture that will be greatly appreciated."

Trump, speaking earlier at a news conference, said that “we are close to finishing". He added the war would be over “soon" but estimated it would not happen this week.

The President was asked what “winning" looks like and replied, "When, basically, I can see that they will no longer have any capacity whatsoever, for a very long period of time, of developing weaponry that could be used against the United States... or any of our allies."

IDF: More than 1,900 Iranian Regime members killed since start of Iran operation

The Israeli military says it has killed more than 1,900 members of the Iranian regime since the start of its campaign, while continuing strikes on Iranian missile launchers and Hezbollah targets

i24NEWS

The Israeli military said Monday evening it is continuing its campaign against Iran and its regional allies, reporting significant strikes on Iranian military infrastructure since the start of the operation.

IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin said Israeli forces have killed more than 1,900 members linked to the Iranian regime and wounded many others as part of efforts to weaken Tehran’s military and strategic capabilities.

According to the army, Israeli strikes have also targeted key logistical assets, including six military airports and 16 transport aircraft used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard to move weapons and funding across the Middle East.

The IDF said it is also continuing operations against Iranian missile launchers to reduce the threat to Israel. In Lebanon, the military reported striking more than 700 Hezbollah targets, including over 100 linked to the group’s Radwan force, as well as infrastructure in Beirut. Israeli troops are also continuing ground operations in southern Lebanon aimed at dismantling Hezbollah positions.

Defrin acknowledged that Iranian and Hezbollah attacks have resulted in two deaths and several civilian injuries in Israel, noting that while the country’s air defense systems are highly effective, they cannot provide complete protection.

He urged the public to follow safety instructions issued by the Home Front Command and said there are currently no changes to civilian security guidelines, including the reopening of schools.

Iran's strikes on Gulf oil signal desperation, diplomats warn

Diplomatic sources in Washington and the Gulf warn that Iran's escalating attacks on regional energy facilities reflect a leadership convinced it has nothing left to lose.

by Danny Zaken

Published on 03-09-2026 23:00 Last modified: 03-09-2026 23:15

Washington and Gulf capitals assessed Monday that Iran plans to intensify attacks on Gulf oil and gas facilities, despite the risk that the United States could respond by fully disabling Iranian energy infrastructure. Diplomatic sources from the Gulf said the escalating pattern of Iranian strikes on Gulf energy sites reflects two conclusions.

The first is Iran's broadening effort to pressure the US by driving up global oil prices through those attacks. The second is the extreme pressure on the Iranian regime, and the sense within it that all available measures must be used – with no red lines – to prevent its collapse.

According to those sources, the impact of American and Israeli strikes has been felt deeply, and as a result, the regime has shifted toward the more extreme position advocated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – that negotiations are pointless, that there should be no limits on attacks, and that only severe damage to the global economy will end the war.

Before the operation, this scenario was considered and gamed out, but the assessment was that Iranian strikes against Gulf oil facilities would come only at a later stage. "If Iran is attacking the oil facilities of its Arab neighbors, it means it feels the end is near and must use every maximum measure available to force the Americans to stop," one of the Gulf diplomats said.

The American response scenarios for such attacks include insurance backing and naval escorts for tankers passing through the Gulf, neutralizing threats from the Iranian navy, and heavy strikes on missile and drone launchers targeting the Gulf states. Even so, Iran still has enough launchers to sustain the campaign.

Simultaneously, the Americans are increasing their own natural gas exports and working to boost oil output from other countries. Among the options being weighed is easing sanctions on Russia to allow it to expand oil exports, primarily to India, a major consumer of Gulf energy. The current expectation is that this situation will last several days – perhaps somewhat longer – with oil prices rising to some degree, more so in Europe and the East than in the US, but not over the long term.

The American scenario anticipates that after several difficult days, Iranian attacks will taper off due to the daily attrition from American and Israeli strikes and from damage to the regime's leadership and infrastructure. On the offensive side, a hard strike against Iranian oil fields and facilities is also on the table, and a symbolic strike of that kind may come soon as a warning to the Tehran regime.

Over the longer term, the American war plan is projected to yield very positive economic outcomes for the US and the Middle East. These stem from several factors: the removal of the Iranian threat to Gulf states and to oil and gas shipping lanes; opportunities to develop Iranian oil and gas fields in partnership with Western – and primarily American – companies; the development of Iran's mineral reserves, which are used in advanced industries; and more.

For example, Iran holds half of one of the world's largest natural gas fields. That field is Qatar's primary source of revenue, but Tehran has failed to develop its share.

In this context, Israel's strike on the refinery and storage facilities near Tehran was coordinated with the Americans, but subsequently drew criticism from Gulf states, who fear further escalation against their own oil fields.

Discussions on the topic have taken place among the Gulf states and the US, and the handling of Iranian oil fields and facilities has been left to the Americans. An Israeli official told Israel Hayom that Iran had been attacking Gulf oil facilities before, and unrelated to the Israeli strike on Tehran's oil infrastructure. According to the official, Israel struck – among other reasons – because of Iranian missile targeting of Israeli infrastructure.

The official also assessed that the current Tehran leadership, facing acute distress, is playing every remaining card to bring the war to a quick end. "They are willing to jeopardize their main economic sector – oil – for the chance that the US will decide to stop, due to economic pressure."

On the question of fire directed at Israel, the official said Iran's current strategy amounts to a war of attritionfiring individual missiles during daylight hours to disrupt the Israeli economy, while carefully managing its weapons inventory to sustain weeks of harassment. Israel and the US, the official said, are working to degrade launch capabilities, hit symbols of regime power and its infrastructure, and will strike hard at civilian infrastructure, including oil facilities, if necessary.

"Iran is in a far worse position than we are. They are simultaneously waging a battle for public opinion, trying to convince audiences in the US and the West to pressure their governments into halting the strikes before the regime falls or loses its grip on the military units and the country as a whole."

The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, located near Ramstein Air Base in Germany, is temporarily referring some labor and delivery patients to other hospitals within the local community, hospital.

The medical center sent a notice about the halt in those services to Landstuhl patients through a Tuesday memorandum that circulated on the unofficial Air Force amn/nco/snco Facebook page. The memo states that the closure of labor and delivery is due to the hospital’s “primary objective.”

Although the memo doesn’t elaborate on what that objective is, the hospital’s primary role is critical combat care ; to treat patients that are injured during training or combat operations throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East, according to the hospital’s website.

Deutsche Bank Warns Energy Shock "Existential Threat" To Airlines, May Force Some To Ground Fleets

by Tyler Durden

Authored...

Flight disruptions tied to Operation Epic Fury in the Middle East exceeded 14,000 by the end of last week. While there were early signs of normalization by mid-week, the global aviation industry remains disrupted, with some of the weakest airlines facing an increased risk that surging energy prices could lead to the idling of commercial jet fleets.

The epicenter of the disruption is Persian Gulf airports and airlines. As of Friday, ten countries had closed their airspace, either partially or completely, since Operation Epic Fury against Iran began one week ago, according to Flightradar24 data.

Despite ongoing IRGC drone and missile attacks across Gulf states - sometimes targeting civilian infrastructure such as airports - some airports began resuming flights by midweek, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and King Khalid International near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, there are reports of a direct strike on the airport in Dubai on Saturday.

It is clear that flight disruptions across the Gulf states will persist as long as Operation Epic Fury continues. With U.S. CENTCOM stating overnight that the operation is only accelerating and only suggests disruptions will extend into next week.

The big risk flagged by Deutsche Bank analysts, led by Michael Linenberg, is that surging jet fuel prices could hit some of the weakest airlines.

With Brent crude futures up roughly 52% year to date and jet fuel up 100% to 125%, Linenberg warned clients in a note on Friday that "financially weakest carriers could halt operations."

"Year-to-date oil prices are up ~50% while jet fuel prices are up 100% - 125%. Absent near-term relief, airlines around the world could be forced to ground 1,000s of aircraft while some of the industry's financially weakest carriers could halt operations," the analyst said.

Linenberg continued:

US jet fuel crack spreads (i.e., the difference between underlying oil prices and jet fuel prices) for Gulf Coast, New York Harbor, and West Coast now range from $85 to $95 per barrel, a level that is at or above the underlying feed stock - WTI oil price currently trading at $86.04 and Brent oil price $88.99 (see Figure 1 below).

The last time we witnessed this phenomenon was in 2005 when crack spreads of as high as $65 per barrel exceeded ~$60 per barrel oil prices in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The damage to the airline industry was significant and widespread including major airlines Delta and Northwest filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2005.

He warned that surging crack spreads amount to a major headwind of more than $20 billion for the airline industry and identified the carriers he sees as most exposed:

Over the past month, we have seen jet fuel prices climb $2.00 per gallon (e.g., Gulf Coast jet fuel prices last close of $4.30 versus $2.24 on February 5, 2026). Our current industry forecast calls for the US airline industry to consume 20 billion gallons of jet fuel in 2026, which suggests a fuel price headwind in the $10s of billions on an annualized basis. This compares to our 2026 operating income forecast of ~$20 billion. In Figure 2 below, we highlight 2026 EPS sensitivity to fuel price changes on a ceteris paribus basis. In reality, airlines will respond to higher fuel prices.

For example, we estimate a $10 across-the-board fare increase sustained on an annual basis could add $7 - $8 billion to top-line. Other important considerations include the negative impact of higher fuel prices on the US economy, and more specifically on demand for air travel, particularly among the most price sensitive consumers.

Looking at airline stocks, the S&P 500 Passenger Airlines Index fell 12.6% on the week, marking its largest decline since the 18% drop in the first week of April 2025, when Trump and China argued back and forth over trade.

The index hits turbulence as soon as the operation began.

Also see this:

These EM Countries Face Greatest Risk If Energy Shock Spreads

This adds to the growing list of secondary effects from Operation Epic Fury: the next wave of flight disruptions may stem not from disrupted Gulf air hubs, but from the energy shock itself, which could force the weakest carriers to idle fleets.

BREAKING: FBI Upgrades NYC Islamic IED Plot Against Christians to Potential Terrorism – Suspect Name-Dropped ISIS to Cops…Here’s the Disgusting Media Spin

March 8, 2026

Mark Van der Veen

You know that infuriating moment when radical Islamists throw an IED at peaceful Christians, shout “Allahu Akbar,” and the mainstream media still refuses to call it what it isIslamic terrorism? That’s the sickening reality unfolding in New York City after two apparent Islamic terrorists attacked a group of Christians staging an anti-Islam protest outside Muslim race-communist Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s mansion. The suspects lit and threw devices clad in black tape toward the protesters, prompting immediate chaos.

The FBI has now upgraded the investigation to a potential act of terrorism after one of the Muslims referenced ISIS to police. NBC is already spinning this as Islamic terrorism, plain and simple — no word games. The bomb was charged with an enormously volatile substance known as TATP, the same explosive used by Muslim terrorists in the Middle East. This was serious. And it was ISLAM.

Instead of reporting on the reality of the situation, the media and large left-wing social media accounts have decided to frame the attempted bombing as an attack on Mamdani himself. Even CBS, who the Left has called state-media of the Trump administration lately, got in on the action.

Social media platforms joined in as well, as the news headline on Elon Musk’s X boiled it down to “Counter-Protesters Throw Lit Devices at Anti-Islam Rally Near Mayor’s Home.” Counter-protesters? Not exactly what I would call genuine framing. While the media plays games about genuine instances of terror against American citizens, their Democrat allies continue to withhold funding from Homeland Security. By omitting the reality of the story, they are letting their pals in Congress off the hook.

NEW YORK – Today, in response to yesterday’s protests outside of Gracie Mansion, Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani released the following statement:

Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are.

What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are.

I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day.

My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.

The uploaded image shows Mamdani’s statement overlaid on a photo of the Gracie Mansion entrance with a protester in a white cap walking past police barriers. The mayor’s statement frames the protest as “white supremacist” and bigotry while downplaying the attempted bombing as “violence at a protest. No mention of the ISIS reference, TATP explosives, or the clear Islamic motivation. Classic deflection.

This is the culture Mamdani has enabledradicals throw bombs at Christians, shout “Allahu Akbar,” and the mayor blames the victims. The media spins it as an attack on him. The left protects their own while Americans suffer. The FBI calling it potential terrorism is the only honest reporting we’ve seen so far.

Patriots are furious. This isn’t “counter-protesting.” It’s attempted murder. The media and Mayor Mamdani are complicit in the cover-up. Demand justice — name it Islamic terrorism and hold them accountable.

Hal Turner World March 07, 2026 Hits: 30728

With the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia began re-routing their oil through a 742 mile long pipeline called the "East-West Pipeline (PETROLINE) as seen on the map above. That pipeline is now blown up.

The pipeline was capable of carrying five million barrels of oil per day. Now, it can move nothing.

Middle Eastern countries have watched their ability to ship oil, crippled by the Israel/US/Iran conflict. Saudi Arabia had previously built the East-West pipeline in case of such an eventuality, so THEIR oil could still be shipped, albeit via the Red Sea.

Those plans just got blown up.

Expect the price of oil to jump again, and the price for Gasoline to follow.

Here in northeastern Pennsylvania, 94 octane gasoline ("Super unleaded") was $3.279 per gallon one week ago; tonight is is $3.72 Up $0.45 per gallon in one week.

Diesel fuel one week ago was $4.079 per gallon one week ago; today diesel at that same station is now $4.999 per gallon. Up $0.92 in one week.

Explosion hits US embassy in Oslo... as rockets targeting embassy in Baghdad are shot down

By WILL POTTER, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER

Published: 21:02 EDT, 7 March 2026 | Updated: 04:08 EDT, 8 March 2026

Attacks were launched on US embassies in Norway and Iraq on Saturday night as the crisis in the Middle East threatens to spiral out of control.

Rocket fire aimed at the US Embassy in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad was blamed on 'rogue groups' by local officials.

Footage appeared to show a US Army C-RAM interceptor system shooting down the rocket fire, sending a stunning red laser across the skies as it took down the munitions.

A security source told AFP that four rockets were launched toward the embassy. Three were intercepted but one fell in an open area in the embassy's airbase.

There have not been any reports of injuries so far. Non-emergency staff were ordered to leave the embassy four days ago amid the escalating tensions.

Meanwhile in Norway, a large explosion was also reported outside the US Embassy in Oslo at 1am local time.

The explosion caused 'minor injuries' and damage to the consular entrance of the embassy, Oslo Police Chief Michael Dellemyr told NKR.

The source of the explosion in Oslo or who was responsible is unclear, police said.

Smoke was seen rising from the area around the embassy compound, eyewitnesses told Norwegian outlet Verdens Gang.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani indicated the attack in Baghdad was launched by a rebel group, saying that he ordered his security forces to find the perpetrators of the 'terrorist act.'

'The perpetrators of these attacks are committing an offence against Iraq, its sovereignty, and its security. These rogue groups that operate outside the framework of the law in no way represent the will of the Iraqi people,' Shia al-Sudani said.

Iraqi security officials told AP that the missile that evaded interception landed on the helicopter landing pad in the embassy's airbase.

The attack marked the first such strike on Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone, which houses government offices and diplomatic missions, since the US-Israeli strikes on Iran eight days ago.

It comes as President Donald Trump admitted he may 'possibly' deploy US troops on the ground in Iran, but said there would have to be a 'very good reason' for him to do so.

The president floated the idea on Air Force One on Saturday, after attending the dignified transfer of the remains of six US servicemembers killed so far in his war with Iran.

His remarks came as Israel launched a fresh wave of airstrikes on Tehran, engulfing the Iranian capital in fireballs as plumes of black smoke filled the skies across the region.

Stunning footage circulating social media showed apocalyptic scenes in the capital on Saturday night, which came as the Israeli military said it was moving into a 'new phase' of the war by targeting Iranian oil refineries and storage sites.

Hours earlier, Iran sent another barrage of retaliatory strikes at its Gulf neighbors, with debris from an intercepted missile striking the luxury 23 Marina skyscraper in Dubai.

In a separate incident in Dubai, one man was killed after debris from an 'aerial interception' fell on his car, and Dubai Airport was evacuated following an Iranian drone attack.

The strikes were launched while Iran's de facto leader Ali Larijani told state media that the nation would not cede to Trump's demands for 'unconditional surrender', and he vowed that the United States 'must pay the price' for killing late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

In a furious speech on Saturday night to state media, Larijani said: 'Americans must know that we will not let them go.'

'When the enemy attacks us from military bases in the region, we will respond, this is our right and our policy.

'We don’t want the region to be destabilized but the essence of this war will destabilize the region.'

The reciprocal strikes have threatened to spiral the war across the Middle East out of control, with Trump earlier warning that he was considering sending a mega-strike he dubbed 'the big one' this weekend.

Larijani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, who many consider the most powerful man Iran after Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was assassinated, issued a series of outlandish, issued a string of unverified claims about the conflict on X on Saturday night.

The leader claimed that American soldiers have been taken prisoner, and baselessly accused Donald Trump of lying about the number of American military deaths.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the stories were unfounded, and told Al Jazeera: 'The Iranian regime’s claims of capturing American soldiers are yet another example of its lies and deceptions.'

They issued the rebuke after Larijani accused Trump of 'promoting a misleading narrative' about the six American soldiers killed in Iranian strikes in the week since the war broke out. Larijani previously alleged that the true number of US casualties is 'over 500.'

'Then, soon enough, with the passage of time, they gradually increase the number of the dead, under various pretexts, such as incidental accidents or fabricated incidents,' he said in an X post

In another post minutes later, Larijani added: 'Under the pretext of an accident, they will inflate the number of casualties.'

'It has been reported to me that several American soldiers have been taken prisoner. But the Americans claim that they have been killed in action. Despite their futile efforts, the truth is not something they can hide for too long,' Larijani said in another post.

Hegseth explains religious aspect of Iran war amid eschatology concerns: 'We're fighting religious fanatics'

By Jon Brown, Christian Post Reporter Monday, March 09, 2026

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth acknowledged during an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes Overtime" that aired Sunday that the war in Iran has a religious element, a comment that comes amid concerns regarding the role eschatology is playing in the conflict.

When Hegseth asserted that U.S. troops involved in the conflict are protected by "the providence of Almighty God," CBS News' chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett asked the secretary to clarify if he "views any of this in a religious context."

Pete Hegseth admits the war against Iran has religious meaning for him, according to his version of Christianity.

Hegseth says it’s important to give U.S. soldiers faith before they go to war.

“They need a connection with their almighty God.” pic.twitter.com/u45lnwhytm

— Shadow of Ezra (@ShadowofEzra) March 9, 2026

Hegseth responded by at first pivoting to Islam, saying, "Obviously, we're fighting religious fanatics who seek a nuclear capability in order for some religious Armageddon; but from my perspective, obviously I'm a man of faith who encourages our troops to lean into their faith, rely on God. There's no atheists in foxholes. Your mortality is right on front of you."

"I remember prayer, for me, on combat missions, how important that was. That's why we're making the chaplain corps great again and active again, making sure we're pouring into the faith of our troops."

Hegseth went on to note that Christian faith "and faith in general" is important to President Donald Trump and that he believes service members facing danger must be grounded in faith that steels them more firmly than "self-help, self-esteem nonsense."

"They need a connection with their almighty God in these moments, and I'm proud of how our troops are conducting themselves, and I pray for them every day," he added.

The eschatology of the Twelver Shia Islam that prevailed among the late Iranian leadership anticipates that Muhammad al-Mahdi, or "the Mahdi," who is considered the "final imam," has remained hidden since the ninth century and will reappear to restore justice at the end of the world.

The potential role such theology has played in driving Iran's pursuit of nuclear capabilities remains highly debated. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was initially reported killed by the joint U.S.-Israeli attacks last month but later said to be alive, has invoked the Mahdi publicly.

Some have expressed concern regarding the potential role certain interpretations of Christian eschatology might also be playing in the Iran war. Last week, the nonprofit Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), led by Mikey Weinstein, claimed that hundreds of service members have sent him complaints alleging that they are being told there is a religious element to the conflict.

One complaint alleged that a commander told non-commissioned officers during a briefing on March 2 that Trump was "anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth."

The Pentagon did not respond to The Christian Post's request for comment on Weinstein's claims.

During a 2018 speech he delivered in Jerusalem that has recently resurfaced, Hegseth expressed optimism that a third temple might be rebuilt on the Temple Mount, which has been occupied by the Islamic Dome of the Rock since the seventh century. Some schools of Christian eschatology believe that a third temple must be rebuilt to usher in the reign of the Antichrist before the Second Coming of Christ.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth talking in 2018 about the 'miracle' of reconstructing the 3rd Temple of Solomon, the place where the Antichrist will be worshiped according to our Orthodox Christian faith. pic.twitter.com/SkWcBHHSk6

— Orthodox Christian (@orthodox_33ad) March 3, 2026

"There's no reason why the miracle of re-establishing the temple on the Temple Mount is not possible," Hegseth said at the time. "I don't know how it would happen, you don't know how it would happen, but I know that it could happen."

Political commentator Tucker Carlson, who has fielded intense backlash and accusations of antisemitism in recent months for his unfavorable attitude toward the Israeli government and his vocal opposition to military intervention in Iran, criticized Hegseth's apparent eschatological views during a monologue last week, and questioned what role they might be playing in U.S. foreign policy.

Tucker Carlson exposes Pete Hegseth as a Zionist shill.

“I had no idea he had such evolved and specific and apparently very informed opinions on rebuilding the third temple. This is not something they teach you about in Sunday school.”

“That’s the Secretary of War right now.” pic.twitter.com/bmXtWCqq5f

— Fractured Light (@FracturedLight0) March 6, 2026

Carlson also noted that Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., an outspoken supporter of the war, has characterized it as "a religious war" between radical Islamic terrorists and those whom they see as infidels, especially Jews and Christians.

Christians disagree on whether a third temple will be built in Jerusalem. Even the early church fathers disagreed, with figures such as Irenaeus and Hippolytus of Rome associating a rebuilt physical temple with the figure of the Antichrist. Later church fathers, such as John Chrysostom and Jerome, were skeptical at the notion of a rebuilt temple, teaching that the true temple is now spiritual.

Roman emperor Julian the Apostate's attempt to rebuild the temple in A.D. 363 was abandoned when an earthquake shook the region of Jerusalem, prompting fire to erupt from the Earth and scorch the workers who were attempting to rebuild it, according to Jerome and Ammianus Marcellinus, a contemporary Roman historian.

Most pastors and church leaders in the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC), Hegseth's denomination, are postmillennial in their eschatology, according to Douglas Wilson, a prominent CREC pastor in Moscow, Idaho, who helped found it.

Only 47% of Americans say religion is ‘very important’ as Religious ‘nones’ reach record high

Mar 9, 2026

(OPINION) Americans with no formal religious identity, popularly known as the “nones,” reached a record share of the population in 2025, according to Gallup data that shows fewer than 50% of adults also report that religion is “very important” in their lives.

The findings, based on interviews with more than 13,000 U.S. adults across Gallup’s monthly 2025 surveys, show that the share of Americans identifying as “nones” reached a new high of 24%, up from 21% to 22% over the previous four years. The share of Americans identifying as “nones” has grown steadily from 2% in 1948 to its current record.

In addition to the quarter of American adults identifying as “nones,” some 28% have said religion is “not very important” in their lives, which has remained constant since 2022.

Less than half (47%) of American adults say religion is “very important” in their lives, while another 25% said it is “fairly important” to them.

The share of Americans who say religion is “very important” in their lives has registered below 50% in recent years. It has been in gradual decline from 58% in 2012, and 70% to 75% in the 1950s and 1960s, according to Gallup.

“Americans’ relationship with religion continues to evolve, marked by fewer adults describing religion as central to their lives, rising religious nonaffiliation and persistently low levels of religious service attendance,” Megan Brenan, a senior editor at Gallup, concluded.

The survey shows that while a majority of all demographic groups in America said their faith was very important to them from 2001 to 2005, only six groups remain highly religious, well over 50% today.

They are: Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Republicans, Protestant or nondenominational Christians, black adults, adults aged 65 and older, and Southerners, said Gallup. Majorities of lower-income Americans, women, and those aged 50 to 64 also report that religion is very important to them. READ MORE

Authorities search debris after suspected tornadoes kill 6 in Michigan, Oklahoma

By DAVE COLLINS, STEVE KARNOWSKI and MIKE HOUSEHOLDER

UNION CITY, Mich. (AP) — Authorities searched through rubble and debris in southern Michigan on Saturday after suspected tornadoes tore through the region and killed four people, including a 12-year-old boy, during powerful storms also blamed for two deaths in eastern Oklahoma.

First responders from multiple agencies in the Union Lake area near Union City looked for more possible victims and worked to clear roads, authorities said. Photos and videos posted on social media showed flattened homes and downed trees in a lakeside neighborhood.

The National Weather Service said an initial assessment confirmed that an EF3 tornado with winds of at least 150 mph (241 kph) struck the Union Lake area Friday.

The weather service also reported seven preliminary tornado tracks in eastern Oklahoma that same day, according to the state’s emergency operations center.

The threat of severe weather continued Saturday in the nation’s midsection, with tornado watches posted in the afternoon for eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia and western Pennsylvania and New York.

Severe thunderstorms that began in northern Indiana appeared to spawn multiple tornadoes in southern Michigan the previous day, said meteorologist Lonnie Fisher of the National Weather Service, which sent teams to the region to evaluate the damage and confirm tornadoes.

The IDF early Sunday morning conducted a precise strike targeting key commanders in the IRGC’s Quds Force's Lebanon Corps who operated in Beirut, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement.

According to reports in Lebanon, the targeted strike occurred at the Ramada Hotel in the Raouche district in central Beirut. The strike targeted one of the rooms inside the hotel.

The IDF statement said that the commanders of the Quds Force's Lebanon Corps operated to advance terror attacks against the state of Israel and its civilians, while operating simultaneously for the IRGC in Iran.

“The Iranian terror regime operates systemically in the heart of the civilian population in Iran and Lebanon, cynically exploiting the civilian population as human shields to advance terror attacks," it said.

The Lebanon Corp connects the Hezbollah terrorist organization and the Iranian terror regime, supports Hezbollah force-building, and functions as the connection between senior IRGC personnel and Hezbollah leadership," added the IDF.

The statement noted that prior to the strike, steps were taken to minimize harm to civilians, including the use of precise munition and aerial surveillance.

“The IDF will not allow the Iranian terror regime elements to establish themselves in Lebanon and will continue to precisely eliminate the commanders of the Iranian terror regime wherever they operate," stated the IDF.

According to reports in Lebanon, four people were killed and ten were injured in the direct strike.

Who really runs Iran?

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized on state television to neighboring countries for recent attacks, but missiles and drones continued to strike the Gulf region soon afterward. At the same time, parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and other hardline figures publicly rejected the president's statement, showing deep divisions within Iran's leadership and suggesting that real power remains in the hands of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

by Danny Citrinowicz

Published on 03-07-2026 23:05 Last modified: 03-07-2026 23:06

Pezeshkian's statement was not a marginal episode. It raises a fundamental question: who is actually in charge of Iran right now? The assumption that the Iranian system was resilient enough to withstand the shock of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's assassination, partly because it had long prepared for such a possibility, is now facing serious doubt, especially in light of Israel's continuing strikes on Iranian command and control centers.

Pezeshkian, who can be described as perhaps the weakest president in the history of the Islamic Republic and someone with limited influence in the regime's key power centers, now joins Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in suggesting that they are struggling to reach forces on the ground that had already received prior instructions.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Photo: Reuters

In his address to Iran's neighbors on state television, Pezeshkian offered a rather subdued apology for the attacks and called for regional cooperation. "From now on, we will not attack neighboring countries unless they attack us first," he said, referring to attacks launched from their territory. Pezeshkian is one of three members of the temporary leadership council established following Khamenei's assassination, alongside the head of the judiciary and a cleric representing the Assembly of Experts.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, together with other figures from the hardline camp closely aligned with the Revolutionary Guards, responded in unmistakable terms, openly challenging the authority of someone who is theoretically one of the three people tasked with running the country during the interim period until a new supreme leader is selected.

"The defensive policy of the Islamic Republic is fixed and will not change, according to the directives of our martyred imam," the parliament speaker wrote. "As long as American bases exist in the region, countries will not see calm. The source of any attack will be the target of our response."

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf

The continued attacks point to two possible explanations: either there is a growing disconnect between the political leadership and the security apparatus, or elements within the security establishment are acting independently of the political leadership. What is happening behind the scenes is impossible to see, but when the political leadership says one thing while the opposite occurs on the ground, it signals a mounting challenge within the regime's decision-making system.

Pezeshkian was a weak president even before the war. Khamenei's death may have increased his authority on paper, but in practice the security establishment appears to pay little attention to his statements or directives. He can say whatever he wishes. The reality is that the decisions that matter are made by the security institutions, foremost among them the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Every day that Iran delays appointing a new supreme leader deepens the sense of uncertainty within the regime. The system was expected to move relatively quickly after Khamenei's death, but the ongoing hesitation suggests profound internal disagreements over the succession.

One possible outcome is the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei, the eliminated leader's son. Such a move could raise concerns that the next supreme leader would function largely as a figurehead while the Revolutionary Guards hold the real power.

Mojtaba Khamenei. Photo: From Wikipedia

If that scenario unfolds, it could further complicate Iran's internal power structure and make the situation even more volatile. While Pezeshkian appears to be trying to participate in the decision-making process, or at least signal that he is doing so, the Revolutionary Guards seem to be operating according to their own calculations, with the forces on the ground still guided by instructions that Khamenei issued before his death.

In a sense, the spirit of the supreme leader still governs events. Even the appointment of a successor may not necessarily lead to a departure from the course he set.

Either way, the regime's embarrassing chain of events likely increased pressure to accelerate the decision on Iran's next supreme leader, if only to provide it a sense of certainty.

Could Israel’s fight with Iran accelerate Gulf-Israel cooperation?

Maayan Hoffman | Published: March 7, 2026

Israel’s exit strategy from the war with Iran must deliver more than battlefield victories. It must also reshape the strategic reality of the Middle East, according to Dr. Erel Margalit, a former member of the Knesset and the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Margalit contends that the conflict offers a unique opportunity to forge stronger partnerships among regional countries, especially with Gulf states, in security, technology, and economic development, pushing cooperation beyond wartime necessity.

The need to defend ourselves, all of us in the region, creates an alliance,” Margalit, the founder and executive chairman of Jerusalem Venture Partners, said. “You need to share resources and strategies… I think our security alliances can go to the next level.

Since the conflict began last Saturday (28 Feb), Iran has attacked installations in a dozen countries, drawing much of the region in. As a result, many countries are now working with Israel to strengthen air defenses and coordinate against the Islamic regime, which has long spread terror directly and through proxies.

Regional partners first demonstrated this potential cooperation in April and October 2024, when several countries worked together to help intercept hundreds of drones and missiles that Iran had fired at Israel.

Some analysts now argue that this growing coordination could accelerate a broader security architecture, linking Israel with Sunni Arab states that share concerns about Iran.

Margalit, whose venture capital firm is one of the largest in the region, said he envisions cooperation that extends beyond defense. He pointed to partnerships not only with Abraham Accords countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, but potentially with Saudi Arabia and others.

He said collaborations are already underway in areas such as cybersecurity, anti-money laundering, and artificial intelligence for the insurance, banking, and defense industries.

“These collaborations could be taken to the next level,” he said.

Margalit’s experience informs his perspective. For more than three decades, he has worked at the intersection of business, security, and regional cooperation, advancing economic partnerships both before and after the Abraham Accords.

“I lead JVP in Jerusalem, but we also have big hubs in New York and Tel Aviv,” Margalit explained. “You have an ecosystem collaboration that is much larger than just a company-to-company collaboration.”

He said that effectively bringing the UAE into this ecosystem could open trade and partnerships with India and other countries in the region. Moreover, if a political and diplomatic agreement could be formed with the Saudis, it could be complemented by a much larger economic move.

“Saudi Arabia is very inspiring, and many people from there are talking to us or to some of our companies, and there's already some collaboration behind the scenes,” Margalit shared. “It's time to take it to the next level. And the next level means broader security collaboration, broader economic collaboration, and probably it's about time that Israel, in its next chapter, takes a proactive move diplomatically, just like it knows how to take proactive moves militarily.”

Margalit’s vision is for the Middle East to sit around the table as a major economic partner with the United States and Europe. He said many young people in the region are looking for their next chapter, and that future wealth need not come from oil but could come from major global strategies in areas such as artificial intelligence for healthcare, agriculture, and other industries.

“Israel is also a leader there, and we'd love to expand our collaboration on that level as well,” Margalit said.

He added that cybersecurity is also essential. While Israel and the United States fight Iran, much of the media is counting missile attacks. But what the public does not see are the cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure across the region. Margalit warned that such attacks can cause damage almost as severe as physical strikes.

He said this is another area where regional collaboration is needed to protect people, banks, governments, insurance systems, and other key infrastructure.

He also highlighted additional areas for partnership, including data center technologies and cloud capabilities.

“We like the triangle between Israel, New York, and Europe,” Margalit said. “It would be so good to add the Gulf region into that, creating a quartet of capabilities.”

Ultimately, whether Israel and the region can translate short-term military coordination into lasting diplomatic and economic frameworks will determine if this moment catalyzes transformative Gulf-Israel cooperation, a central opportunity emerging from the war.

For now, the military war against Iran continues. But if Israel and the United States succeed, Margalit’s vision could become one of the most significant outcomes of the conflict.

Missile barrages and national determination: The signs that the conflict could continue for some time

Nine days into the Israel–U.S. offensive on Iran, missile launches are declining but the war shows no sign of ending; Hezbollah has escalated attacks from Lebanon as Washington deploys more forces and leaders signal a long campaign ahead

Ron Crissy|Yesterday | 20:49

Missile barrages from Iran and Hezbollah, and a “campaign that may last a long time — but is necessary”: Nine days have passed since Israel and the United States launched a large-scale offensive against Iran, and although there appears to be a downward trend in the number of launches by the Islamic Republic, the end of the campaign is nowhere in sight.

Over the weekend, Israel and the U.S. entered the “next phase” of the operation, and on Saturday night Hezbollah launched its most significant barrage since joining the fighting. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted the conflict could continue for some time, telling Israelis in a national address on Saturday night that “we will need determination together.”

Attack in Tehran on Saturday night

Netanyahu also said regarding the operation in Iran that “we still have many targets, and I will not detail them here.”

IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin also said earlier on Saturday that the campaign may last a long time, but stressed that “it is necessary.

Meanwhile, the winds of war are also blowing strongly within the U.S. administration. On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump sent a threatening message to Iran amid the arrival of four American B-1 bombers in Britain.

The arrival of the bombers in Britain came as the Pentagon pledged to increase the pace of strikes against Iran. In addition to the bombers, it was reported Saturday that another aircraft carrier — the USS George H.W. Bush — is also on its way to the Middle East, accompanied by a strike group of three missile destroyers, indicating American preparations for a prolonged campaign. In addition, at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, the massive C-5M Super Galaxy transport aircraft was also documented. The aircraft can carry two M1 Abrams tanks, six Apache helicopters, or 36 military vehicles.

Trump himself said earlier this week that the United States had expected the war to last four to five weeks. “We can do much more if necessary. I don’t get bored,” he said. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth added this week: “We are winning, Iran is finished — and we’ve only just begun.”

He noted that additional forces are on their way to the region, saying: “We’re hitting them while they’re on the ropes. More waves are coming — we’ve only just started. The United States will use an unlimited stockpile of guided bombs. Iran will not be able to withstand us. We can continue this fight easily for as long as necessary.”

An escalation in launches from Lebanon

Amid nearly constant waves of strikes in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, and despite numerous attacks on villages in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah carried out a significant barrage of dozens of launches toward northern Israeli communities overnight. The move marks an escalation by the Lebanese Shiite terrorist organization since it joined the fighting, after firing far smaller barrages in recent days.

Alongside a major barrage, Hezbollah fired missiles and drones at northern Israeli communities multiple times throughout the day and overnight, indicating that, despite a long confrontation with Israel over the past two years, the organization still retains capabilities to strike the Israeli home front. In addition to the launches, Hezbollah operatives also have been attacking IDF forces reinforced along the northern border and in southern Lebanon. Since Hezbollah joined the campaign, 14 soldiers have already been wounded by anti-tank fire, five of them seriously.

Entering 'next phase' of war with Iran

Netanyahu also addressed the Lebanese government in his statement Saturday night. “It is your responsibility to enforce the ceasefire agreement and disarm Hezbollah — otherwise there will be disastrous consequences," he said. "The time has come for you to take your fate into your own hands. We will do whatever is necessary to protect our citizens.” He added: “We continue with full force in the war and are winning through initiative and ingenuity, but also through determination.”

Defrin also addressed the fighting with Hezbollah in his statement, stressing that “we will not compromise on dismantling the terrorist organization’s weapons. We are exacting a heavy price from it.” Regarding the possibility of a ground entry into Lebanon, he added that “all options are on the table.”

On Thursday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and the commander of U.S. Central Command, Adm. Brad Cooper, both spoke separately about moving to the “next phase” of the war in Iran. While the first phase focused on regime targets — primarily degrading Iran’s launch capabilities through intensive hunting of launchers and missiles — thousands of new targets have now been added to the list: Iran’s military industry.

The Israeli and American objective is to dismantle Iran’s entire capability chain, from production to the finished weapon. In the case of ballistic missiles, for example, the goal is to strike the entire process — from manufacturing plants, through missile storage facilities, to launchers and the commanders and soldiers who ultimately operate them. The IDF and the U.S. military intend to apply this approach to all of Iran’s military capabilities in the near future, including the use of American bombers capable of penetrating targets located deep underground.

BlackRock LIMITING WITHDRAWALS From High-End "HLEND" Private Credit Fund

Hal Turner Nation March 07, 2026 Hits: 17668

The world’s largest asset manager is telling people: no, you can’t have your cash back. This has never happened before.

BlackRock has begun limiting customer withdrawals from their Flagship "HLEND" Private Credit Fund. Many shocked Investors are openly asking if BlackRock is quickly headed to becoming the next ENRON?

The Withdrawal Limits came after a surge in redemption requests, as investor worries mount around the $2 trillion private credit industry. Those Investors pulled out $1.2B in Q1 redemption requests (9.3% of Net Asset Value(NAV)). BlackRock is now capping payouts at 5% ($620M) per the fund's rules.

Shares of BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, fell 6.7% on the New York Stock Exchange, amid a broader market selloff after worse-than-expected U.S. jobs data and escalating U.S.-Israeli war against Iran.

It's not just BlackRock, either.

Blackstone’s similar fund saw a RECORD 7.9% in redemption requests. They had to raise their withdrawal cap and inject $400 million of their own money just to cover the demand.

Blue Owl straight up stopped honoring redemptions. Replaced them with IOUs.

It's starting to look like the financial so-called "Masters of the Universe" weren't so smart after all.

BLK dropped 5%. KKR, Carlyle, Apollo, Ares, Blue Owl, and TPG all fell 5-6% with it.

The entire private credit sector sold off in a single day.

These funds lend money in illiquid loans. Loans that can’t be sold quickly.

So when too many investors want out at the same time, the fund doesn’t have the cash to pay everyone.

BlackRock also just wrote a separate $25 million loan down to ZERO.

It was valued at full price three months ago. Gone overnight.

JPMorgan’s Bill Eigen said it best: “Bad news often happens all at once. The opacity and the leverage in the sector is concerning.”

This is a $1.8 TRILLION industry.

– Rising oil.

– War in the Middle East.

– AI disrupting the software companies that borrowed heavily from these funds.

– Rate cuts off the table.

When the biggest funds in the world start telling investors you can’t have your money back…

That’s a MAJOR warning.

Rare 4.9 magnitude earthquake rattles north Louisiana

Based on available data, this could be the strongest earthquake ever recorded inland in Louisiana.

The United States Geological Survey reported that a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Red River Parish early Thursday, an update from their initial estimate of 4.4 magnitude.

The tremor occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. at a shallow depth of 3.1 miles. Its epicenter was about four miles northwest of Edgefield, and shaking was felt as far away as Shreveport.

"From what I can find in the data, could be the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Louisiana, at least inland," WWL Meteorologist Payton Malone said. The state’s overall strongest quake occurred offshore near Grand Isle in 2006, a magnitude 5.3.

Large earthquakes are rare in Louisiana, as the state is not located on an active fault line like California or the Pacific Northwest. Geologists say these quakes in Louisiana, as well as in neighboring Oklahoma and Texas, are linked to saltwater disposal wells used by the oil and gas industry.

"It's almost certainly induced by man-made operations," USGS Research Geophysicist Thomas Pratt told The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate last year.

While the USGS recorded Thursday’s tremor, the agency does not assign specific causes to individual earthquakes.

A Pakistani man is on trial over a plot to kill a US politician, possibly Trump

NEW YORK (AP) — A Pakistani man went on trial this week on charges of trying to orchestrate the killing of a U.S. politician, potentially President Donald Trump as he campaigned in 2024.

Asif Merchant, 47, has pleaded not guilty to attempted terrorism and other federal charges. As his trial opened Wednesday in New York, prosecutors said he met with and paid $5,000 to supposed hit men who actually were undercover FBI agents.

Using objects on a hotel napkin to illustrate, Merchant roughed out in June 2024 a scenario for shooting a political figure at a rally, then staging a protest as a distraction for the killer to get away, according to an intermediary’s testimony and a video played in court Wednesday.

“I was shocked,” the intermediary, Nadeem Ali, told the anonymous jury in a Brooklyn federal court. In conversations over two days, Merchant asked him to line up hit men, Ali testified as prosecutors played recordings that he surreptitiously made for the FBI.

Merchant, who eventually met the supposed hit men and gave them $5,000 as an initial payment, was arrested before he gave them a name to target, but he told Ali it would be “someone who was hurting Pakistan and the Muslim world,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Nina Gupta said in an opening statement.

Mood Inside Pentagon: Intense. Paranoid. Turns out the "Experts" --- were wrong.

Hal Turner World March 04, 2026 Hits: 24737

'Inside the Pentagon, and among some members of the Trump administration, there is deepening concern which began on Sunday and worsened Monday and Tuesday, that the Iran conflict could spiral out of control.

'The mood here is intense and paranoid', one person said.

There is anxiety among senior leaders that the fighting will extend for weeks, further stressing limited U.S. air defense stockpiles.

'There is concern about this lasting more than a few days', said another person. 'I don't think people have fully absorbed it yet, like, what it has done to our stockpiles. It often takes two or three interceptors to ensure a missile is stopped.'

Others mock that view saying "What kind of nonsense is he talking about? Two or three to stop a missile? They need about ten interceptors to watch the missile strike anyway."

Apparently, the "experts" are trapped in a fairy-tale La-La-Land of their own making. They seem to believe the lies they have been telling themselves for years about how effective US weapons systems are, and how weak our adversaries are.

When the real world intruded upon their La-La-Land echo chamber, the results proved catastrophic. The real world has proven that US Missile defenses are not nearly as effective as the "experts" concluded them to be. Turned out that the real world is not a test range where perfect conditions exist for defenses to operate.

The real world is messy, chaotic, electronically noisy. The defensive systems don't perform as expected.

Making things worse, the incompetent morons in the former Biden regime, gave very large amounts of our defensive missile inventory, to Ukraine. So our supplies are now "very low" and the US has begun TURNING DOWN requests from Persian Gulf allies who are seeking immediate replenishment of their near-empty defense missiles.

The country of Qatar now has less than ONE WEEK of defensive missiles.

In the meantime, Iran keeps firing their older, less accurate missiles at all those US allies, to use-up their missile defenses. Once the defenses are exhausted, Iran can start firing their bigger, better, newer, missiles, and really inflict far more serious damage.

The Trump people approached Iran via Italy over the weekend to talk about a ceasefire. Iran flatly rejected it without any further discussion at all.

Iran's plans are clearly coming together with regard to overwhelming the US and Israeli defenses.

Unless the US can neutralize Iran's launch capability - and as already made incredible progress to that goal - Iran can actually win this conflict.

Russia and China are helping Iran. Payback to the US for what the US has been doing to Russia by supplying Ukraine, and what the US is trying to do to China: Cutting off Iran oil to China, which has to import 80% of Iran's oil to meet China's annual oil needs.

(HT Remarks: Long before this conflict began, I told readers of this website and listeners to my radio show, that if we went to war against Iran to placate the whiny Israelis, we would be opening Pandora's Box. Now, even the most mentally dense can see that Pandora's Box is open, and it isn't working out well for us.)

Many Muslims Believe That Donald Trump Is The Islamic Version Of The Antichrist

By Michael Snyder/End of the American Dream March 05, 2026

Share this article:

For large numbers of Muslims all over the world, the fact that Donald Trump is leading an attack on Iran is evidence that the Islamic apocalypse is upon us. I realize that this may sound crazy to many of you, but this is what they actually believe.

In Islamic theology, there is a shadowy figure known as "the Dajjal" that rises during the end times. According to Wikipedia, "the Dajjal" roughly corresponds to the figure of the Antichrist in the Christian faith...

Al-Masih ad-Dajjal (Arabic: الْمَسِيحُ الدَّجَّالُ, romanized: Al-Masih ad-Dajjal, lit. 'the deceitful Messiah'),otherwise referred to simply as the Dajjal, is an antagonistic figure in Islamic apocalyptism who will pretend to be the promised Messiah and later claim to be God, appearing before the Day of Judgment according to the Islamic eschatological narrative.

The Dajjal is not mentioned in the Quran, but he is mentioned and described in the Hadith. Corresponding to the Antichrist in Christianity, the Dajjal is said to emerge out in the East, although the specific location varies among the various sources.

There is nobody in the world that Shiite Muslims hate more than Donald Trump.

And so it shouldn't be any surprise that many of them have started to believe that Trump is "the Dajjal"...

But a Fox News Digital investigation reveals that, for certain hardline Shiite ideologues, including in the U.S., this is not an ending but a prophetic showdown that will usher in the arrival of the "Mahdi," a messiah, according to Islamic eschatology, or the theology of end times.

In this prophecy, Mahdi will emerge to battle Dajjal, the Islamic equivalent of the Antichrist, in a final battle of Armageddon. For many of these ideologues, President Donald Trump is Dajjal.

Yes, a lot of them really do believe this.

And this is not a recent phenomenon.

More than a year ago, a senior cleric in Iran preached a sermon in which he boldly declared that "the Dajjal" is Trump...

A senior cleric appointed by Iran's Supreme Leader suggested in a sermon on Friday that US president Donald Trump was the one-eyed Islamic equivalent of the Antichrist prophesied to menace humanity around judgment day.

"He is completely one-eyed, and this is a sign of the end times," Seyyed Hassan Ameli told congregants in a sermon for Islamic Friday prayers according to the Tehran-based Didban News website.

Now that war has erupted, Muslims all over the world are having debates about whether Trump is "the Dajjal" or not.

This is particularly true in Shiite communities.

To many Shiites, the rise of the Dajjal is a sign that the Mahdi is about to reappear...

In the Twelver denomination of Shīʿa Islam, one of the signs of the reappearance of the Mahdi whom Twelvers consider to be their 12th Imam from the Ahl al-Bayt ("People of the Household"), is the advent of the Dajjal.

"Whoever denies al-Mahdi has denied God, and whoever accepts al-Dajjal has denied God (turned an infidel)." This Shīʿīte ḥadīth attributed to Muhammad strongly emphasizes the return of Dajjal and the event of the reappearance of the Mahdi.

This is why many of those that are currently running Iran do not fear this war.

They have actually been looking forward to exactly this sort of a scenario. Once the Dajjal rises, the Mahdi is supposed to return during a time of great chaos and war...

Before his reappearance (Arabic: ظهور, romanized: ṭuhūr), the world will plunge into chaos, where immorality and ignorance will be commonplace, the Qur'an will be forgotten, and religion will be abandoned. There will be plagues, earthquakes, floods, wars and death.

Of course it isn't just Shiite Muslims in Iran that believe this nonsense.

Fox News actually discovered that this ideology is being preached at a Shiite mosque in northern Virginia...

At a recent Friday sermon at a local Shiite mosque in northern Virginia, an imam closed prayer with an earnest plea, before war broke out in Iran: "May Allah destroy all the nonbelievers - or kafiroon or munafiqoon," he said, using Arabic words that refer to "nonbelievers" and "hypocrites."

He asked for this victory "before the arrival of Imam Mahdi."

Fox News Digital observed the sermon and also witnessed a special table of honor in the middle of the mosque's main prayer hall, featuring framed photos of Khamenei embracing Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrullah, also killed by Israel for orchestrating terrorist attacks.

Even though the United States and Israel clearly have the upper hand in this war so far, many Shiites fully expect the tide to turn once the Mahdi shows up.

Apparently the Mahdi's army is supposed to travel from Iran to Syria where the Mahdi will join forces with Jesus. Then the Mahdi is supposed to kill the Dajjal in the land of Israel...

In the majority Sunni sect and the minority Shiite sect of Islam, clerics describe the Mahdi's army traveling from modern-day Iran to Damascus, Syria, where Jesus would appear at the Umayyad Mosque and pray behind the Mahdi. The Mahdi's forces would battle Dajjal in Syria and kill him in Lod, Israel, conquering the world.

Days ago, Iran's state-run Islamic Republic News Agency repeated the end-times narrative, quoting Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem, claiming the regime is the "government of Imam Mahdi" and its anti-U.S. "resistance is the path to hastening his reappearance."

I know that this sounds like a bunch of nonsense, but many Shiites take this stuff very, very seriously.

And a lot of them are entirely convinced that now is the time for these things to happen.

So they aren't going to just lay down their arms and give up, because they are expecting the Mahdi to show up on a white horse at any moment.

The Shiite leaders of Iran will fight like mad because they believe that the Mahdi will soon come riding to their rescue.

Of course that isn’t going to happen, and millions of Shiite Muslims will be deeply disillusioned once all of this is finally over.

Silver Lights Fuse of Derivatives Time Bomb – Bill Holter

By Greg Hunter On March 4, 2026 In Market Analysis 68 Comments

By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Financial writer and precious metals expert Bill Holter (aka Mr. Gold) predicted that by March, silver would likely suffer a failure to deliver physical metal at COMEX. In other words, demand for physical silver will swamp the existing supply. The math is scary and simple, and Holter breaks it down, “The registered inventory at COMEX in silver is 86 million ounces. On the second day of March, there are already 52 million ounces of silver standing for delivery. That leaves 30 million to 35 million ounces unspoken for. . .. This looks dicey. If they have 52 million ounces standing for delivery now, where is it going to be at the end of the month? If silver fails to deliver, then what you are going to have in the gold market is buyers stepping up that normally would not even buy and ask for delivery. . .. The bottom line is if silver fails to deliver, gold will fail to deliver in 24 hours. Once that happens, then confidence breaks. . .. You are looking at two quadrillion dollars in derivatives in a global economy with $350 trillion in debt with an underlying $100 trillion annual GDP. The math does not work. I think silver, and I have said this for many years, silver will be the spark or the fuse that lights off gold, which then lights off the derivatives time bomb. Warren Buffett calls derivatives weapons of mass financial destruction.”

Mr. Gold thinks, “When the system resets, governments will start a money print fest that will touch off global hyperinflation. . .. The  ofpure math of debt outstanding is that it cannot be repaid in current terms. It will be hyperinflation the things we need and hyper-deflation of the things we already have. . .. How is somebody going to buy your house if the capital is not there? If the capital is not there, then the price is going to have to come down. . .. It is highly likely that silver will kick off the demise of the financial system.”

Mr. Gold thinks this kind of global debt will go bad fast. Holter warns, “When this thing cascades and collapses, you are either in place, or you are out of place. If you are out of place, you will not be able to repair your mistake. It will be a lifetime mistake to have not gotten ready. Let me just say there is a difference in being early and being wrong. In 2000 to 2005, if you were buying gold or you were buying silver, you were an idiot, a complete idiot, and people thought you walked around with a tin foil hat on. . .. Now, we are at the point where the best place to have invested your money since January 2000 would be in gold or silver. When Noah was running around building his ark, he looked wrong. He was not wrong–he was just early.”

US And Ecuadorian Forces Launch Joint Strikes On Narco-Terror Targets

Jack Cowhick  Contributor

American and Ecuadorian military forces launched joint strikes against narco-terror targets in Ecuador on Tuesday, U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced.

The joint operations target Designated Terrorist Organizations within the country, the U.S. announced in a press release. SOUTHCOM described the operations as a “powerful example of the commitment of partners in Latin America and the Caribbeanto partner with the U.S. in combatting narco-terrorism. (RELATED: Trump Admin Takes Out 11 Designated Narco-Terrorists In ‘Lethal Kinetic Strikes’)

Together, we are taking decisive action to confront narco-terrorists who have long inflicted terror, violence, and corruption on citizens throughout the hemisphere,” the press release stated. SOUTHCOM also posted the announcement on X, along with video of soldiers being deployed.

President Donald Trump designated several cartels as terrorist organizations on the first day of his second term in office, which the administration has used to justify military strikes in the Caribbean.

Marine Gen. Francis L. Donovan commended the Ecuadorian armed forces “for their unwavering commitment” to the fight against drug trafficking.

“We commend the men and women of the Ecuadorian armed forces for their unwavering commitment to this fight, demonstrating courage and resolve through continued actions against narco-terrorists in their country,” he stated.

The strikes come less than a week after Trump announced Operation Epic Fury in Iran, hitting nuclear and military targets alongside the Israeli military. Both operations are part of a series of recent U.S. military and law enforcement campaigns conducted with regional partners.

Millions left without power after major blackout hits Cuba's western region

A blackout has left millions of people without power in Havana and the rest of western Cuba in the latest outage on an island struggling with dwindling oil...

HAVANA(AP) — A blackout left millions of people without power in Havana and the rest of western Cuba on Wednesday in the latest outage on an island struggling with dwindling oil reserves and a crumbling electric grid.

Government radio station Radio Rebelde quoted an energy official as saying that it could take at least 72 hours to restore operations at one of Cuba's largest thermoelectric power plants, where a shutdown sparked the outage.

The government’s electric utility said on social platform X that the outage affected people from the western town of Pinar del Rio to the central town of Camaguey.

Energy and Mines Minister Vicente de la O Levy wrote on X late Wednesday that the government was powering critical infrastructure in the affected region as two power plants came online. Such infrastructure includes hospitals and medical clinics.

“We are working to restore the National Electric System amid a complex energy situation,” he wrote earlier on X.

The U.S. Embassy warned people to “prepare for significant disruptions” and conserve fuel, water, food and mobile phone batteries. “Cuba’s national power grid is increasingly unreliable, and scheduled and unscheduled power outages are prolonged and a daily occurrence across the country, including Havana,” it said on X.

‘We’ll have to eat bread again'

By late afternoon, the government said crews had restored power to 2.5% of Havana, or some 21,100 customers, noting that efforts were gradual and tied to what the system's conditions would allow. It did not provide updated numbers by late Wednesday night.

We trust in the experience and effort of the electrical workers to overcome this situation in the shortest possible time,” Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz wrote on X.

As night fell, people across Havana lingered on doorsteps and used wood or charcoal to prepare “caldosas,” a popular soup shared among neighbors who contribute items including vegetables, chicken and meat. A group of musicians along the city's famed seawall played into the night.

Others played dominoes by a rechargeable lightbulb.

“With the power outages, this is the only thing we young people have to distract ourselves,” Jeferson Silvera said.

Daily, prolonged outages have become so common in Cuba that 66-year-old Genoveva Torres was waiting for power to return at night as usual to cook dinner. She was perturbed when told about the massive blackout.

My God, until when?” she exclaimed. “Then we won't eat. We'll have to eat bread again.

State media reported that the outage was caused by a shutdown of the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric power plant east of Havana following a leak in its boiler.

Radio Rebelde quoted the plant's technical director Romلn Pérez Castaٌeda as saying that crews must first locate the fault before repairing it and restarting the unit.

Pérez Castaٌeda said that a pipe burst in the boiler, causing a water leak and subsequent fire that was extinguished without major damage, according to Radio Rebelde.

The outage caught 63-year-old Odalis Sلnchez out on the street with her grandson. She was unable to walk because of a recent operation, so she called someone for a ride home.

Some 200 people waited at a bus stop near her, but buses were not running given a lack of fuel, so they tried to get a ride via any means available, including hitchhiking.

“I need to be able to get home to see what I can do,” Sلnchez said. “Without power, you can’t do anything. My grandson also is studying and I have to make him food. Public transportation isn’t helping.”

‘We have to move forward’

It is the second such outage to affect western Cuba in three months.

The outage in early December lasted nearly 12 hours. Officials said a fault in a transmission line linking two power plants caused an overload and led to the collapse of the energy system's western sector.

Authorities have noted that some thermoelectric plants have been operating for over 30 years and receive little maintenance given the high cost. U.S. sanctions also have prevented the government from buying new equipment and specialized parts, officials say.

Cuba also is struggling with dwindling oil reserves after the U.S. attacked Venezuela in early January, which halted critical petroleum shipments from the South America country. Later that month, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on any country that would sell or supply Cuba with oil.

Ernesto Couto Martيnez, 76, was trying to find a ride home and said he would confront the latest outage “with the spirit that all Cubans have.”

“We must keep fighting. There’s no other way,” he said. “We have to move forward, blockade or no blockade.”

Last month, Cuba’s government implemented austere fuel-saving measures and warned that jet fuel wouldn’t be available at nine airports until mid-March.

Prior to the attack on Venezuela, the island already was struggling with a crumbling electric grid, generation deficits and interruptions in fuel supplies.

Coto reported from San José, Costa Rica.

Trump Says US Decapitated Iranian Leadership As They Ate Breakfast

Harold Hutchison Media Reporter

President Donald Trump said Monday the initial strikes targeting Iran killed dozens of Iranian leaders during a breakfast meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Trump confirmed Khamenei’s death in a post on Truth Social Saturday, hours after he announced the commencement of Operation Epic Fury early that morning. “Special Report” host Bret Baier told “America’s Newsroom” co-hosts Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino that Trump was “pleased” with the progress of Operation Epic Fury. (RELATED: Trump Confirms Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Is Dead)

“I said this is, it’s a tough succession plan in Iran. He said 49 L is deep, it’s very deep. When they met, they met for breakfast. They assumed it was good for a lot of reasons,” Baier said. “’Number one, they didn’t think we knew, but you never attack in the morning, having to do with winds and sun and a lot of things. It just, it was amazing that we knew everything we knew,’ he said there is a plan.”

On Monday, CENTCOM reported that a fourth American servicemember had died from wounds suffered in the initial Iranian attacks. (RELATED: ‘That’s The Way It Is’: Trump Concedes More Americans Will Likely Die In Iran Conflict)

WATCH:

I asked, ‘so what you’re saying is that you know there is somebody on the ground in Iran that is going to rise up,’ Quote, ‘Yes, I feel there is, feel that, and some of them are no longer with us, to be honest, because it was 49 leaders that were taken out. That was going to take four weeks,’” Baier continued. “’We thought to get rid of the Iranian leadership, and it’s always, you know, if they hide, it’s a lot longer than four weeks, and they would have been hiding. We were shocked when we heard what was going on. We knew exactly what was happening and where 49 leaders, and you know they’re talking about using people now that nobody ever heard of, even though they don’t know. They’re using people, studying people to be the leader that even they don’t know who they are. Can they? Can you believe that?’”

“He points to Venezuela as a template, which means to me that going in they had some sense on the ground of what was coming next,” Baier added.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said during a Monday Pentagon briefing that the Trump administration would not rule out putting U.S. troops on the ground in Iran.

Iran's drones cost $35k to make... but $4m to shoot down: How Tehran can keep launching attacks indefinitely but Western missile supplies are weeks from running out

By ELIANA SILVER, SENIOR FOREIGN NEWS REPORTER

Published: 06:50 EST, 2 March 2026 | Updated: 09:48 EST, 2 March 2026

Iran's retaliatory campaign has exposed a growing imbalance between the production of drones and the exorbitant cost to shoot them down.

A single Iranian drone can cost as little as $35,000 to produce, while intercepting it can cost anywhere from $500,000 to $4 million.

This issue has come into focus during the latest escalation, known as Operation Epic Fury, with Iran launching attacks at Israel and at US and allied bases in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

By spreading strikes across more than five theatres at once and sustaining over 2,500 drones per day, Tehran is forcing its adversaries to divide their defences.

Every interceptor deployed to protect one base is one that cannot be used elsewhere, since interceptors are finite.

This leads military planners to stretch their resources across thousands of kilometres, leaving weaker protections in each location.

Iran's advantage lies in scale, according to data gathered from open source intelligence and defence analysts.

Rather than a few thousand long range drones, its total Shahed fleet is estimated at between 80,000 and 100,000 across all variants.

Combined with an ongoing production rate of around 500 a month, if used at full capacity, those numbers could translate into waves of more than 2,500 drones a day for a month.

Western officials and analysts warn that interceptor stockpiles would struggle to keep up with that pace, adding that the strain is already showing.

Last year's fighting in June 2025 saw inventories severely depleted.

During the conflict last summer, The US alone fired around 150 THAAD interceptors to defend Israel over just 12 days, using roughly a quarter of its stockpile.

Each of those interceptors costs about $15 million and can take three to eight years to replenish.

Now, the same systems are being relied on across multiple countries at once as the intensity of Iranian attacks continue.

Interceptors aren't the only munitions in short supply, with the US expanding sea-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles (TLAMs) and aircraft launched weapons.

And with US President Donald Trump saying the war could go on for the next four weeks, dangerously low stocks can prove to be a problem.

Yesterday, the President told the Daily Mail: 'It's always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It's always been about a four-week process so - as strong as it is, it's a big country, it'll take four weeks - or less.'

Speaking to Bloomberg, Kelly Grieco, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center, said: 'Missile interceptors are a big concern, particularly anti ballistic interceptors. We are using these interceptors faster than we can make them.'

The way these systems are used adds another layer of pressure, as they require several interceptors.

Standard military practice is to fire two or even three interceptors at a single incoming target to increase the chances of a successful hit. That means even a relatively small wave of drones or missiles can quickly drain supplies.

William Alberque of the Pacific Forum said that 'magazine capacity was already low' after last year's fighting. If the current pace continues, officials fear stocks could run dangerously low within days.

In April 2024, a coordinated defence effort managed to intercept 99% of incoming threats. However, that attack was slower and more predictable and involved a smaller number of weapons.

Meanwhile, this week's attacks are faster, less predictable, and span a broader area, making that level of success far harder to repeat.

Using that data alongside the the current exchange rates between cheap drones and expensive interceptors, a prolonged campaign could run into tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars.

However, cheaper solutions are also being considered, with one option being the use of APKWS guided rockets, which only cost about $28,000 per shot.

They have shown strong results in testing with a 100% hit rate and now account for a significant share of drone interceptions in the region, with thousands already deployed.

Another is Israel's Iron Beam laser system, which can destroy targets for just a few dollars per shot.

However only 1-2 of these systems are operational and all are based in Israel, leaving other parts of the region without access.

At the same time, Israel is also low on Arrow 3 air-defense interceptors and air-launched ballistic missiles, which were used to take out Iranian missile launchers in 2025 and attack Hamas leaders in Qatar, according to a US official

Eyal Pinko, a former Israeli naval commander, said the key question is which side will manage to outlast the other.

He said: 'A lot more attacks are coming.'

'They have thousands of missiles and drones, huge stocks. They will do everything to maintain the regime. This is now an all out war for their survival.'

This comes as Iran vowed it will never surrender as it rejected an ultimatum from Donald Trump to lay down its weapons.

Trump told Iran's leaders to give up the fight which has exploded across the Middle East, with missiles raining down on the region.

A total of 555 people have been killed across Iran since the start of the strikes that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior leaders, the Iranian Red Crescent said Monday.

Israel's rescue services said nine people were killed and 28 wounded in a strike that hit a synagogue in the central town of Beit Shemesh, bringing the overall death toll in the country to 11. Another 11 people were still missing after the strike, police said.

'These intolerable threats will not continue any longer. I once again urge the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian military police, to lay down your arms and receive full immunity or face certain death,' Trump said.

He urged the Iranian people to rise up and overthrow the Islamic regime. 'Be brave, be bold, be heroic and take back your country,' he said.

'We're undertaking this massive operation not merely to ensure security for our own time and place, but for our children and their children, just as our ancestors have done for us many, many years ago,' the President said.

But Iranian national security official Ali Larijani confirmed the country will not negotiate with the US.

Donald Trump said the US-Israeli war with Iran could go on for the next four weeks, revealing that the US and Israel's attacks have taken out so many Iranian leaders that the succession line may lead to a surprise new leader.

'The attack was so successful it knocked out most of the candidates,' Trump told ABC. 'It's not going to be anybody that we were thinking of because they are all dead. Second or third place is dead.'

On Monday, loud explosions were heard across the Gulf cities of Dubai, Doha and Manama on Monday as Tehran pressed into a third day of strikes against Gulf neighbours.

Saudi Arabia was also targeted, intercepting two drones that were launched during an attempted attack on an oil refinery in Ras Tanura.

The Saudi defence ministry has confirmed two missiles were intercepted and destroyed at the plant in Eastern Province along the country's east coast.

According to Al Jazeera, the site has now been temporarily closed.

Iran's army has confirmed it targeted the American Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait as well as vessels in the Indian ocean in retaliation of US and Israeli strikes.

'Missile units of the army's ground and naval forces operating from various locations targeted the US Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait as well as enemy vessels in the northern Indian Ocean over the past hours,' the army said in a statement.

It added that '15 cruise missiles' were used in the attacks.

Several American warplanes crashed in Kuwait earlier today but their crew survived, Kuwait's defence ministry said.

When Barack Obama Told Americans We Are a Muslim Nation

By M Dowling -

March 2, 2026

Former President Barack Obama furthered radical Islam in the United States. It was Barack Obama who ended investigations of Hezbollah crime syndicates in the US despite the ATF warning of the dangers. When the Holy Land Foundation was caught raising funds for terror, he ended the probe. It was Obama and his acolytes who forbade probes into and surveillance of radical mosques.

The former president legitimized the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, and other radical organizations.

He promoted the idea that Islam was peace and peace alone.

Obama ended the FBI and CIA training in radical Islam. He canceled the counterterrorism training and replaced it with the Muslim Brotherhood representatives to train the FBI about Islamophobia, which is still happening today.

Naval base 'on lockdown' as intruder arrives by BOAT

A US Naval base in Florida has reportedly been placed on lockdown after an intruder arrived by boat.

Naval Air Station Pensacola (NAS) closed its gates to the public after a man ran onto the base after beaching his vessel nearby, according to police dispatch audio.

Residents who live near the base - home of the Navy's Blue Angels - reported hearing alerts on speakers, including: 'Potential threat to the installation.'

NAS Pensacola said: 'Both gates to the base are currently closed. Additionally, gates to NAS Pensacola's Corry Station Annex are closed.'

The base declined to provide further details, but locals claimed on social media that it is under lockdown.

It comes amid heightened terror fears after the US launched its war in Iran on Saturday.

A gunman shot dead two people at a packed bar in Austin, Texas, and wounded more than a dozen in the early hours of Sunday.

The Muslim attacker, originally from Senegal, was wearing an Iran flag T-shirt and a hoodie that said 'Property of Allah.'

An FBI official on Saturday said its counterterrorism and counterintelligence teams are on elevated alert across the country.

Iran uses a network of proxy militant groups around the globe to carry out violent attacks against Western countries.

The FBI did not say how long the terror alert will remain in effect.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirsti Noem said her department was working with law enforcement partners to 'thwart any potential threats to the homeland.'

Trump told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview on Sunday that the war with Iran is set to last weeks.

'It's always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It's always been about a four-week process so - as strong as it is, it's a big country, it'll take four weeks - or less,' the President explained.

Iranian Drones Strike EU Country In War First

by Tyler Durden

Authored...

The Iran war has just for the first time, and rather quickly given it's only the third day of the conflict, expanded to include an EU nation in the Mediterranean. Iranian-made drones have reached Cyprus and at least one has made ground impact. But they may have been launched from nearby Lebanon.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) base in Akrotiri, Cyprus came under attack Monday morning, with an Iranian drone striking the runway in the early hours, several reports say. This comes as Britain has mulled directly joining Trump's Iran operation, but now appears to be pulling back from the prospect.

General view of RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, via PA/The Independent

"Our force protection in the region is at the highest level and the base has responded to defend our people," a British Ministry of Defence spokesperson has told international media.

Hours after the initial salvo, two more unmanned aerial vehicles were successfully intercepted while inbound over the same base. "Our armed forces are responding to a suspected drone strike at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus at midnight local time," the MoD statement continued. "Our force protection in the region is at the highest level and the base has responded to defend our people."

The RAF is now taking emergency precaution measures is at least partially evacuating the base after a prior build-up:

The attacks on Akrotiri, a British sovereign base area, comes after the RAF recently moved additional defensive capabilities to the location—including radar systems, anti-drone defenses, and F-35 jets—as part of ongoing efforts to support stability in the Middle East.

Showcasing the widening impact of the Iran conflict, an airport in Paphos, Cyprus, was later evacuated after a suspect object was picked up on radars.

Cooper spoke of the “international” threat Monday morning and expressed the importance of recognizing “the responsibilities we have around defensive support for areas where there are British citizens."

Cooper further said that in private conversations with officials throughout the Gulf region, the leaders expressed they were "frankly shocked and horrified at the way their countries have been targeted by Iran over the weekend."

Family members of UK military members have been ordered to leave the base as it is now clearly being targeted:

Family members of British military personnel have been asked leave to leave the base for their own safety, and will be based elsewhere in Cyprus until the alert passes.

The drone struck hours after the UK agreed to let the US use British military bases to attack Iranian missile sites, but officials indicate the possible flight times mean it was launched before the prime minister announced the new policy.

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides has stated that "All the competent services of the republic are on alert and in full operational readiness." He also clarified his country has nothing to do with the war.

— World War Now (@WorldWarNow_) March 1, 2026

"I want to be clear: Our country does not participate in any way and does not intend to be part of any military operation," the Cyprus president added.

There's growing concern that the drones could have been sent from Iran's proxy arm in Lebanon: Hezbollah. Israel has just renewed its bombing of Beirut and other parts of Lebanon after the Shia paramilitary group (or possibly another group) fired rockets on northern Israel.

Lebanon is only a short, hours-long boat ride away from Cyprus. Israel is also not very distant. The British military has two sovereign military bases which it has maintained on Cyprus since the independence of its former colony in 1960.
